Suzuki Jimny Sierra pickup concept is the fun in function
The Suzuki Jimny Sierra concept adds a fully functional pickup bed to the off-roader’s rear end

Considering just how well the market has received the new Jimny, that’s not to say the folks at Suzuki haven’t been hard at work toying around with new ideas for their new pint-sized off-roader. Seeing as the jimny is exclusively a 4x4 with a full cab however, a sizeable chunk of folks who are more keen towards hauling and overall function may not be too convinced that this is the car for them.

Perhaps trying to see if they can solve that, Suzuki have taken the higher 1.0L displacement ‘Sierra’ trim (which is what the rest of the world is getting) and sectioned the rear end to create a pickup bed which, quite frankly, feels right at home on the Jimny.

While this particular exercise is still a concept, the bed itself was showcased to be fully functional during this year’s 2019 Tokyo Auto Salon. Fitted with toolboxes and a couple logs, the gold Jimny had an outdoor camping trip theme to it to truly showcase its features. A roll bar finds its home near the center of the vehicle, much like with other capable pickups.

The interior gets a proper do-over as well. With the rear seats and trunk area gone, focus is brought upon the only pair of seats wrapped a tartan pattern laid over a large portion of both driver and passenger seats.

We’re guessing Suzuki have displayed the Jimny Sierra Pickup at TAS 2019 to gauge market reception for the concept. We can only hope that this spec sees production in the near future as well.
