Subaru to highlight performance, adventure side at JMS 2025

There’s only three letters to think of when we talk about Subaru and performance- that is STI.

Truth be told, we haven’t quite seen a true STI performance car in the country since Motor Image last offered the WRX STI in 2021. You could say the same for the rest of the world. But for the upcoming Japan Mobility Show, Subaru will be out to showcase that they’re not done with performance just yet.

Subaru has revealed their exhibit outline for JMS 2025, and they will be showing two facets of their brand identity – performance and adventure.

On one side of the booth, JMS 2025 will be the place for the world premiere of two STI concept models, called the Performance-E and Performance-B. The former will be a battery electric model that Subaru claims will spearhead the new generation of performance.

The latter, meanwhile, retains Subaru’s boxer engine. According to the press release, the performance-B STI “achieves a balance of advanced performance and power with practicality”, which suggests it could be the long-awaited STI version of the WRX sedan. The headlight was a dead giveaway in the teaser photo, along with the flared wheel arches.

For the adventure side, Subaru is set to premiere the all-new Trailseeker EV in Japan, along with prototype versions of the Forester and Outback Wilderness.

Speaking of which, the Wilderness name and variants have only been limited to the US, so this suggests that Subaru could be looking at offering the outdoor and off-road oriented trims to the global market.

Lastly, the famous 1983 Subaru GL Family Huckster used by Travis Pastrana for his gymkhana videos online will be displayed at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show. The all-carbon wagon packs 862 horsepower, all-wheel-drive, and active aerodynamics to maximize performance and perform insane driving precision stunts.

With that in mind, Subaru customers, fans, and enthusiasts will have plenty to be excited about once the Japan Mobility Show 2025 opens on October 29.
