Spotted: Five-door Suzuki Jimny sighted without camouflage
Five-door Suzuki Jimny expected to debut next year

Fans of the Suzuki Jimny that have always wanted a five-door version, rejoice! After years of speculations, rumors, and being spotted by spy photographers last July 2022, images of what appears to be the five-door Jimny have surfaced online.
Spotted over in India during what looks like a photo/video shoot for a commercial by Instagram user Deepak Thakur (via Rushlane.com), the vehicle in question sports two additional doors and is marginally longer than the three-door version Suzuki currently sells. Also worth mentioning is the fact that it now comes with additional window ports near the rear fender quarters which further highlight the five-door Jimny’s length.

We also noticed that the five-door Suzuki Jimny appears to have a longer wheelbase than the three-door version. This means we can expect the longer-bodied 4x4 to come with additional cabin space, especially for the rear passengers. But despite having a much longer wheelbase, it seems the rear doors of this particular Jimny will be shorter than most. And since it’s actually longer than the standard Jimny, it will have a larger cargo space in the back which is always a plus.
While some initially thought the approach and departure angles of the Jimny will be affected due to the additional doors and longer wheelbase, it looks like Suzuki was able to retain them for the five-door Jimny. While the exact figures have yet to be revealed, the pictures do show that the five-door Jimny still has little to no front and rear overhangs.

As far as engines are concerned, the five-door version of the Suzuki Jimny is expected to be powered by the 1.5-liter K15B four-cylinder engine that is already seeing use in the three-door variant. However, there are also rumors that the five-door Jimny (including the refreshed three-door version) will be upgraded with a mild-hybrid tech system for improved emissions, better fuel economy, and slightly faster acceleration. This doesn’t come as a surprise since the Ertiga's 1.5-liter K15B already benefits from the aforementioned mild-hybrid system.
With the 2023 Suzuki Jimny five-door expected to make its debut at next year’s Auto Expo in January, it looks like we won’t have to wait long before the automaker actually decides to officially take the covers off next month.
