SPIED: Next-gen Hyundai Tucson spotted with retro aesthetics
The fifth-generation Hyundai Tucson is expected to debut in Q3 2026

Believe it or not, it's been nearly five years since Hyundai launched the fourth-generation Tucson. Codenamed the NX4, the compact crossover has undergone several updates and is now being offered with gas, turbo-diesel, and hybrid variants in the Philippines. Despite already being half a decade old, Hyundai is already busy testing the next-generation Tucson, and our spies recently spotted it being tested in Europe.
While Hyundai is not yet ready to fully show the all-new Tucson to the public, they have been busy testing a heavily disguised prototype. Based on the photos our spies managed to take, the next-generation Tucson will get a retro-inspired exterior. The false panels still hide most of the vehicle's final design, but it's quite apparent that the all-new Tucson will be bigger and more stylish.

It's also worth mentioning that Hyundai appears to have taken inspiration from the all-new Nexo FCEV in designing the next-generation Tucson. This is largely due to the boxy front & rear ends, which could mean the Tucson could get a Santa Fe-inspired makeover.
Our spies were unable to take pictures of the interior, although, like the latest Hyundai vehicles, the all-new Tucson will most likely receive a high-tech upgrade. It's reported that the Tucson will be powered by Hyundai's Pleos OS, which will operate via a wide 16.9-inch display and will feature a smartphone-like user interface. It will even have its own app store to make for a fully connected in-car experience.

For improved safety on the road, the Tucson will also have Level 2.5 autonomous driving aids to help drivers.
As far as the powertrain is concerned, the all-new Hyundai Tucson will reportedly be powered only by electrified engines. If this is true, then the compact crossover may only be available as a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) or as a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). There will be no diesel engines on offer as Hyundai is shifting towards a more sustainable means of making power.

The all-new fifth-generation Hyundai Tucson is expected to be launched in Q3 2026, which means we're still far from its official debut. But the fact that Hyundai is already busy doing tests means they could be preparing to have a preview of sorts next year. Here's to hoping we'll find out more about the all-new Tucson in 2026.
