SPIED: Mercedes-AMG testing a 1,000 HP all-electric sedan

Mercedes-Benz isn’t exactly having the best of times as of late when it comes to selling electric vehicles (EVs) since customer demand is shifting towards plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs). But that hasn’t stopped Mercedes-AMG from developing hyper electric cars.

We already know Mercedes-AMG has been busy testing a 1,000 PS electric SUV since last year. Heck, the automaker even released an official “camouflage” photo of it to prove they are working on such a vehicle. But if you thought that was the only thing Mercedes-AMG was working on, they’re also busy with something else.

Our spy photographers recently spotted a heavily camouflaged car by Mercedes-AMG, and from the looks of it, it appears to be the all-electric version of the four-door GT flagship performance vehicle. Despite the camo livery obscuring its overall appearance, it appears that the EV will feature a coupe-like design, complemented by a liftback that accentuates its sleek shape.

The headlights and taillights appear to be prototype units, as Mercedes-AMG may still be finalizing some exterior aspects of the vehicle. What’s clear, however, is that the all-electric AMG GT will have four doors and perhaps seating for four people, if not five.

Our spies also managed to take a peek inside the all-electric Mercedes-AMG GT. While almost everything is still covered, we can see that the electric GT will feature a digital dashboard, similar to those found in most Mercedes-AMGs today. What’s unique, however, is that the screens appear to be already the final design, which means we might be just months away from the big reveal.

Powertrain specifications are not yet available, but we can expect the GT sedan version to make the same amount of power as the SUV, which is 1,000 PS. This will likely be made possible with four electric motors that are powered by a high-capacity battery.

With Mercedes-AMG busy testing the prototype, we won’t be surprised if the reveal is set for later this year or perhaps in early 2026. We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed that it happens sooner. More importantly, the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT may want to watch its back soon.
