Spied: Facelifted Peugeot 2008 spotted

It might have taken some time, but after first being revealed in 2019, the Philippine market officially received the all-new Peugeot 2008 last year. Featuring a sleeker and more aggressive design, Peugeot's smallest crossover yet combines dynamic looks with a high-tech cabin, along with a turbocharged powertrain.

But since the vehicle is now essentially 4 years old, it's due for a minor model change (MMC). Peugeot has been busy testing a facelifted prototype of the 2008 and it appears the crossover will get some noticeable changes.

Beginning with the most obvious first, the refreshed 2008 will get a larger and more prominent grille. The fang-like LED daytime running lights, on the other hand, appear to be more vertical in design now and are not as aggressive.

Peugeot is not yet ready to show us the changes they made to the 2008's rear. However, given the heavy use of camouflage by the automaker, it seems Peugeot will give their smallest crossover quite the “butt-lift”. Perhaps one of the revisions we can expect from the automaker is a new set of LED taillights, a slightly reshaped tailgate, and maybe a redesigned rear bumper. We could also see a new set of dual exhausts as the current 2008 we get comes with circular units.

Under the hood, we can expect the updated 2008 to come with the new 1.2-liter PureTech 48V mild-hybrid powertrain that was first revealed in the 3008 and 5008 last week. It makes a total system output of 136 PS with 230 Nm of torque and produces fewer carbon emissions. Moreover, Peugeot claims it can save up to a liter of fuel per 100 kilometers based on the WLTP cycle.

With Peugeot still testing the refreshed 2008, it might be a while before the automaker officially reveals it. Until then, we'll be keeping an eye out for any more possible leaks or spy photos in the coming months.
