Shock price drop: Nissan Leaf now only retails for Php1.098M

The electrified vehicle price wars continue as the Nissan Leaf appears with a shock price drop of its Suggested Retail Price (SRP) of the all-electric hatchback to a significantly more accessible PHP 1,098,000. This substantial price reduction, which has begun appearing in dealer advertisements and social media of exclusive dealer Nissan Gateway, marks a pivotal moment for electric vehicle (EV) adoption in the country.

While Nissan's official website still lists the Leaf at its previous SRP of PHP 1,998,000 (a price that was already a significant reduction thanks to Executive Order No. 12 in 2023, which reduced tariffs on EVs), reports from various Nissan agents and online communities confirm the new, much lower price point.

This latest price cut is largely attributed to the intensified competition among electrified vehicle players mainly composed of Chinese OEMs. The Nissan Leaf is one of the early EV models introduced to the market in 2021 at a price of Php2,798,000 before the EVIDA and Executive Order 12 which later slashed import tariffs for EVs down to zero. The price was reduced to Php1,998,000 in April 2023.

The Nissan Leaf, known for its 40-kWh battery and a claimed range of approximately 311 kilometers, offers a compelling package for urban commuters and environmentally conscious buyers. With its new price tag, the Leaf is poised to become one of the most affordable full-electric vehicles in the Philippine market, making EV ownership a more tangible reality for a wider range of consumers.
