Second-gen Audi Q7 gets new facelift for 2024

The second-generation Audi Q7 has been with us since 2015 and received a facelift a few years ago for the 2020 model year. It then arrived in the Philippines in early 2021. The Q7 is due for a full model change but before the automaker bids farewell to it, the Ingolstadt-based automaker has decided to give it one last refresh.

Say “hallo” to the 2024 Audi Q7, and while it may not be noticeable, the luxury SUV gets some subtle updates on the exterior as well as on the interior. Beginning with the outside changes first, Audi gave the Q7 a new set of headlights that use HD matrix LED lighting with laser technology. They also come with a darker tint on the headlights and split LED graphics which bring the Q7's design language to the present.

There's also a new grille with larger honeycomb-like inserts and sportier bumper intakes – both of which appear to have been inspired by the updated 2024 Q8. Even the taillights were given attention as they now have new LED graphics for a more prominent appearance. Last but not least are the new wheel designs with sizes going all the way to 22 inches. Depending on the variant chosen (S Line, SQ7, and Launch Edition), each Q7 will have some distinct exterior accents and highlights.

Hop inside and most will notice that the overall dashboard design remains the same. While it seems Audi didn't change much inside the Q7, the automaker updated the touchscreen media system to the latest software. It now supports apps like Spotify, Amazon Music, and usual Android Auto/Apple CarPlay. The virtual cockpit feature has been upgraded as well and can now display more information like intelligent driver aids, points of interest, and more.

Under the hood, the 2024 Q7 continues to be available with turbo-diesel and turbo-gasoline engines. Beginning with the 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V6, the 45 TDI variant makes 231 PS with 500 Nm of torque while the 50 TDI generates 286 PS with 600 Nm of torque. Over to the 3.0-liter V6 turbo-gas engine, the TFSI puts out 340 PS and 500 Nm of torque. All variants are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, a 48V mild-hybrid system, and permanent all-wheel drive.

For those that prefer more oomph under the hood, there's the 4.0-liter TFSI V8 that pumps out 507 PS with 770 Nm of torque. This one is also mated to an 8-speed automatic with permanent AWD but can easily sprint from 0 – 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds. Top speed is limited to 250 km/h.

With Audi giving the second-generation Q7 a new lease on life, it might be a while before the third-generation model sees the light of day. Perhaps we'll only get to see it in 2025 or 2026.
