Sean Connery's Aston Martin DB5 fetches USD 2.4M at auction
Winning bidder also gets a personal drive with F1 champ Sir Jackie Stewart

The Aston Martin DB5 is a typical classic car that sells in seven digits at an auction. And mind you, we're talking US dollars, not pesos.
But a recent sale in the Monterey Car Week saw one car fetch far more than expected for one reason: the person who owned it was the original James Bond.

Yes, we mean the late Sir Sean Connery. His estate sold the late actor's DB5 for USD 2.425-million. According to Broad Arrow Auctions, most of the proceedings are heading to the Sean Connery Philanthropy Fund, which has supported many charities over the years.
Apart from owning an iconic piece of movie history, the winning buyer also gets to enjoy a personal drive in the DB5 with Formula 1 champion Sir Jackie Stewart, who was a long-time friend of the late Connery.
In 1964, Connery and the DB5 appeared in the Bond film “Goldfinger”. And more than 50 years later, Connery bought a 1964 DB5 for himself, albeit without the machine guns and the other gadgets the car had during the film. The actor owned the DB5 until he died in the Bahamas two years later at the age of 90.

Connery was the first actor who played the role of James Bond in Ian Fleming's 007 series and is arguably the best-known Bond actor in the same aspect the Aston Martin DB5 is seen as the definitive Bond car.
Both Connery and the DB5 saw the most appearances in the iconic movie franchise, with the late Scottish actor starring in seven films. On the other hand, the DB5 was shown in eight Bond films, including the latest film called “No Time to Die” in Daniel Craig's last portrayal of James Bond.
