Romando Artes back as MMDA Acting Chairman
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. officially appoints Romando Artes as new MMDA chief

Engineer Carlo Dimayuga III’s tenure as Acting MMDA Chairman has come to an end. After just being appointed by President Ferdinand “Bong Bong” Marcos Jr. last August, Marcos has appointed Romando Artes as the agency’s new Acting Chairman.
Undersecretary Cheloy Garafil, Officer-In-Charge of the Office of the Press Secretary, officially confirmed the news that President Marcos has indeed named Artes as the MMDA’s Acting Chairman. The Malacañan has yet to release an official copy of Artes’ appointment nor the reason behind his reappointment, but they did mention that Artes will replace Dimayuga in his post.
Romando Artes was first appointed as the agency’s chief back in March of this year after former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte named him as the MMDA’s Acting Chairman. He led the MMDA until June 30, 2022, the day Marcos officially assumed office.
Artes, who is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), first joined the MMDA as Assistant Secretary-General for Finance and Administration back in May 2017. During his time handling the agency’s finances, Artes managed the budget and finances of the MMDA. He was also instrumental in the MMDA’s 9001:2015 certification.
Last but not least, Artes led the COVID-19 Committee of the MMDA which handled the inoculation of almost all of the agency’s employees and their immediate families. He even supervised the Public-Private Partnership Program that allowed the construction of the MMDA’s new headquarters in Ortigas, Pasig City which is set to be finished this 2022.
