Raising of SCTEX Dinalupihan has been completed

Earlier this year, NLEX Corporation began raising the Dinalupihan Section of the Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX). The project, which began last March 2022, aimed to reduce the vulnerability of the road to flooding. This will allow motorists safer passage when traversing SCTEX.

In July of this year, NLEX Corporation said that work on the 640-meter segment of the expressway project was already 50% complete. Not only was NLEX Corporation busy constructing a new pavement on top of the existing one, but they also made additions to the infrastructure to better handle flooding in the area.

Fast forward to December 2022, and NLEX Corporation has announced that work on the Dinalupihan segment is now officially complete. The project raised the elevation of the road to 1.8 meters. The work also added new box culverts and drainage structures to handle huge amounts of water and help drain it to prevent flooding. The company even put in Vetiver Grass to reduce soil erosion in the area.

“By raising this part of the expressway, we are not only providing safer journeys to our motorists, but we are also enabling our infrastructure to be more efficient and capable of withstanding severe weather events in the future,” said J. Luigi L. Bautista, president and GM of NLEX Corporation.

For Dinalupihan Mayor German Santos Jr., the road-raising project will definitely be beneficial to both locals as well as motorists that pass through the area frequently.

Aside from raising a 640-meter section of the said road, NLEX Corporation also installed LED lights and safety devices between the SCTEX Dinalupihan Spur and Roman Highway in Hermosa, Bataan to help guide motorists, especially at night. Covering approximately 2 kilometers, the improvement projects in Hermosa include light poles, directional signs, bollards, and reflectorized metal strips.

“We are also aiming to make night driving better through new brighter lights and signs, aside from making our roads more reliable. With these, we can reduce potential hazards caused by poor visibility and lack of traffic signs,” added Bautista.

With both projects complete, motorists heading towards Dinalupihan along SCTEX or towards Hermosa, Bataan will be happy to know the many improvements NLEX Corp. has finished ahead of this year’s holidays.
