Raising of SCTEX Dinalupihan 50% complete

Earlier this year, the NLEX Corporation announced that it was raising a 640-meter section of the Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) near Dinalupihan, Bataan. Set to be completed in Q3 of 2022, the project is aimed at reducing the vulnerability of the particular segment to flooding in order for all types of vehicles to pass safely.

Fast forward to July 2022 and the NLEX Corporation has just announced that work on the 640-meter stretch of SCTEX Dinalupihan is halfway complete and is expected to be finished on schedule. According to NLEX Corporation president J. Luigi L. Bautista motorists can expect a safer driving experience once the project is finished.

“We are always on the lookout for solutions that can help improve the reliability and safety of our roads and other structures. By elevating this portion of SCTEX, motorists can expect to traverse a safer and more accessible route, especially during inclement weather conditions,” said Bautista.

The project includes the construction of new pavement on top of the existing one and the addition of new culverts or drainage structures. Parts of the road are being raised as high as 2 meters and are being filled with layers of earth materials to mitigate flooding in the area. This will ensure safe passage for motorists and will enable the infrastructure to be more resilient and further sustain severe weather events.

To ensure motorists are not affected by the ongoing road works, traffic management and safety measures are in place to guide motorists and reduce travel delays. Advisories on the closures are regularly posted on NLEX Corporation’s social media channels to update motorists on traffic conditions and construction activities.

Once complete, it will certainly give motorists some peace of mind after what happened in July 2018 when typhoons 'Henry' and 'Josie' flooded the segment.
