Porsche Charging Lounge is the Starbucks Reserve for EVs
Porsche builds new EV charging lounge in Europe

We may have a future glimpse of how typical gas stations transform once the majority of the world adopts to use electric vehicles.
Porsche has put up its own luxury charging hub in Germany with six stalls for 300 kW DC fast-charging and four stalls for 22 kW AC charging points. But it's not just that, the airport-style hub has its own lounge for EV owners to enjoy, and its aesthetics are close to that of a typical Starbucks Reserve store.

Owners of Porsche EVs access the lounge through an automatic license plate recognition system, or through the MyPorsche app. Once inside, EV owners can enjoy a lounge stocked with snacks and drinks, plus a dedicated area to do workouts in front of a smart mirror.

Furthermore, Porsche's EV Charging Lounge generates some of its own electricity as there are solar cells on the roof of the building, but the majority of its power requirement is still reliant on grid connection. The digital building management also optimizes power consumption, as it dims the lights whenever there are no guests.
As for the payment for charging and use of the lounge, they can be made with debit and credit cards along with Apple Pay or Google Pay. Porsche says currently the charging price is EUR 0.33 per kWh (around PHP 20 per kWh).

For now, Porsche plans to roll out their EV Charging Lounge in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, with no announcements yet for other continents and regions. However, the idea of a lounge-style charging station may catch the attention of other brands, especially when it proves to be a hit in Europe.
