PIMS 2022: Foton Transvan gets new 2.0-liter turbo-diesel
Foton Transvan downsizes its turbo-diesel engine from 2.8 liters to 2.0 liters

Foton's budget people carrier has just received a powertrain upgrade. Making its official debut at this year's Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) is the Transvan 2.0L turbo-diesel.

From its namesake, the people carrier no longer comes with the 2.8-liter Cummins turbo-diesel. Replacing it is a new 2.0-liter Aucan turbo-diesel inline-four derived from the upgraded Thunder. But unlike the pick-up which makes 161 PS and 390 Nm of torque, the 2.0-liter on the Transvan has been detuned to only produce 135 PS at 3500 rpm with 330 Nm of torque between 1800 to 2600 rpm. Aside from that, the 5-speed manual gearbox is no more as it has been replaced with a 6-speed manual transmission.
Design-wise, the Transvan relatively looks the same as before. It still omes with the now-familiar rectangular headlights, and vertical taillights. As before, the Transvan still rolls on 15-inch steelies with 195/R15 tires. In terms of size, the 2022 Transvan measures 4850mm long, 2020mm wide, and 2000mm tall. It also gets a 2570mm wheelbase and a ground clearance of 160mm.

When it comes to interior seating, Transvan is available either as a 13- or 15-seater van. Amenties for the Transvan 2.0 are front and rear air-conditioning, a 2-DIN touchscreen infotainment system (13-seater only) with AM/FM radio, USB, and Aux, power windows, power locks, and a reverse camera. The 15-seater version, on the other hand, only gets a 1-DIN sound system with AM/FM radio, Aux, and USB connectivity.
Standard safety features on the Transvan 2.0 include anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution and a reverse camera (13-seater only).

The Transvan 2.0 retails for PHP 1.220 million and is now available across Foton dealerships nationwide.
