PBBM signs law to rename three highways, one bridge

You and Waze will need to get used to calling old highways, including a bridge, by new names after President Bongbong Marcus signed four laws on March 21 renaming them after popular politicians.

What used to be Bohol Island Circumferential Road, Urdaneta City Bypass Road, Camarines Sur National Road, and Tambacan Bridge will go by new names after the laws take effect 15 days following their publication in the Official Gazette or a newspaper of general circulation.

Take note of the laws that changed the names of these roads and a bridge below:

Republic Act No. 11987 renames Bohol Island Circumferential Road as President Carlos P. Garcia Circumferential Road. It runs through Barangay Poblacion III towards the north of Tagbilaran City and returns to the same barangay from the eastern side of the city.

Republic Act No. 11988 changes what is known as Urdaneta City Bypass Road in Pangasinan to Ambassador Eduardo "Danding" M. Cojuangco Jr. Avenue. It goes through Barangays Nancayasan, Santo Domingo, Santa Lucia, Camantiles and Anonas.

Republic Act 11989 mandates that Tambacan Bridge be known as Mariano Lluch Badelles Sr. Bridge. It traverses the Iligan River in Barangay Tambacan, Iligan City, in the Northern Mindanao Region.

Republic Act 11990 stipulates that Camarines Sur national road will now go by Speaker Arnulfo "Noli" Fuentebella Highway. It stretches from Barangay San Juan Bautista and goes through Barangays Tagongtong, Abucayan, Hiwacloy, Digidigon, Balaynan, and Payatan in the municipality of Goa.

If you are traveling this Holy Week, note that the changes will not take effect until sometime in the first or second week of April. Let us hope Waze does not take longer than that.
