Patrol Jr: Nissan's new C-SUV is called the Tekton
Nissan Tekton is a rebadged Dacia Duster that will be made in India for global markets

Nissan may be experiencing a financial storm lately, but that hasn't stopped the embattled Japanese automaker from releasing new products. In fact, Nissan is set to reveal a new model in India, which will be a C-SUV fighter.
It's called the Nissan Tekton, which means “craftsman” or “architect” in Greek. For Nissan, the Tekton name signifies a powerful, premium C-SUV that features engineering excellence, performance, and a distinctive design. Based on the teaser photos Nissan has released, we can't help but notice it looks like a pint-sized version of the brand's flagship SUV, the Patrol.

Nissan admits this, as they specifically drew inspiration from the all-new Patrol in designing the Tekton. From the sculpted hood to the distinct C-shaped LED lighting signatures, as well as the bold grille & front bumper, the Nissan Tekton can be likened to be called the Patrol Jr. It also comes with a muscular stance, stylish C-shaped LED taillights with a central light bar, and the Tekton nameplate spelled across the rear.
Other details about the Nissan Tekton are not yet available at this time. However, it's quite clear that the Tekton is not a wholly designed product by the Japanese automaker. In reality, the Nissan Tekton is based on the all-new Dacia Duster, albeit redesigned by Nissan. With that, the Nissan Tekton most likely shares the CMF-B platform that's seeing use in the Dacia Duster and other Renault vehicles.

Engine specifications are not yet available as well. But given that it's the twin of the Dacia Duster, the Nissan Tekton could come with a turbocharged engines that displace between 1.0L to 1.3L. There's also the possibility of a 1.5L turbo-diesel being offered, given that diesel engines are still popular in India. Transmission choices may include a 7-speed dual-clutch and a 6-speed manual gearbox.
“The all-new Nissan Tekton draws its design inspiration from our legendary Nissan Patrol. It is designed to disrupt, dominate, and deliver everything today’s modern Indian consumer desires. Imposing, stylish, and built to set a new benchmark in India and beyond, the design and build quality are distinctly Nissan—embodying the best of Nissan’s SUV DNA,” said Alfonso Albaisa, Corporate Executive, Nissan Motor Co. Ltd.
Like the Nissan Magnite, the Nissan Tekton will be made in India and will be offered in global markets. In fact, the Japanese automaker said the Tekton is the second SUV of India that is part of the “One Car, One World” strategy. The only question now is, could we see the Nissan Tekton arrive in the Philippines?
