NLEX Connector may no longer be toll-free by July
NLEX may start charging toll for use of Connector road by next month

Have you already tried using the NLEX Connector Road in going to and from the City of Manila? If you haven't yet, then you may soon be missing out on its toll-free days.
Since the first segment from Caloocan to España was opened in March, motorists were free to use the NLEX Connector Road. But now that the España-Sta. Mesa segment is nearing completion, NLEX Corporation has announced they are hoping to secure approval from the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) to collect tolls in the elevated expressway next month.
While NLEX Connector gives plenty of convenience for motorists, NLEX Corporation on the other hand has been incurring hundreds of thousands in losses per day as a result of letting motorists pass through for free.

What's worth noting though is that while we may have to pay for using the NLEX Connector soon, we could expect toll rates to be lower compared to what the folks at Skyway Stage 3 are charging.
NLEx Corporation president and general manager J. Luigi Bautista said they proposed a toll fee of PHP 86 for Class 1 vehicles going from España to Caloocan. On the other hand, point-to-point use of the elevated expressway from Caloocan to Sta. Mesa will cost motorists just around PHP 125 pesos.
With that being the case, which has proved more beneficial to your travel thus far? NLEX Connector Road or the Skyway Stage 3? Let us know in the comments.
