Nissan Z Heritage Edition is a proper throwback to OG Fairlady

It’s no secret that when Nissan designed the all-new Z, they decided to go for a retro-modern look. Taking cues from past Fairlady Zs, the latest generation sports car features styling elements from the past that are imbued with modern aesthetics - resulting in a stylish and unmistakable look from every angle.

However, some buyers and enthusiasts did mention that while the all-new Z looks great, its grille could sport some changes. Nissan listened and the company has revealed the Z Heritage Edition which is available in limited quantities and is currently being offered in the US market, for now at least.

Featuring exclusive design elements and throwback styling cues inspired by the first-generation S30 Z (AKA Datsun 240Z), the Nissan Z Heritage Edition celebrates the sports car’s 55th anniversary in the US in a big way.

Beginning with the most obvious first, Nissan installed a new retro split grille design which was first offered as an option in Japan. While some might find the split grille odd, this particular look was actually present in the first generation Z.

Next is the “New Sight Orange” paint which serves as another tribute to the original Fairlady Z. Combined with the black decals on the hood, roof, and door panels, the brightly-colored hue gives the two-door coupe a sleek and retro finish. It also gets new 19-inch black alloy wheels with fender extensions at each corner which harkens back to the 240Z. Last but not least, it has exclusive Heritage Edition decals around the Z emblems.

The Z Heritage Edition is based on the Z Performance variants offered in the US market. That means it gets a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 that’s rated to crank out 405 PS with 475 Nm of torque and can be mated to either a 6-speed manual or 9-speed automatic gearbox. Since it’s based on the Z Performance model, the Z Heritage Edition is equipped with a mechanical limited-slip differential and Nissan Performance brakes with red calipers.

With the US market getting their hands on the Nissan Z Heritage Edition, we’re hoping Nissan Philippines Inc. will be able to offer something similar to the local market. With the two-door sports car being a favorite amongst enthusiasts, we won’t be surprised if there are customers looking to get one as soon as possible.
