Nissan transforms NV350 into the ultimate camping vehicle
The Caravan Mountain Base concept is Nissan's idea of a van built for the outdoors

The NV350 may be known in the country as a hard-working people carrier or family van, but over in Japan, Nissan transformed it into something else. This is the Caravan Mountain Base concept, and it's Nissan's idea of a camping vehicle.
Compared to your typical Caravan (the NV350's name in Japan), the Mountain Base Concept has a more rugged exterior. It gets a different front bumper, a special front grille, and what appears to be a brush bar with LED lights that protect the headlights. It even gets a LED light bar at the front of the roof for extra illumination at night.

To further highlight the vehicle's more outdoorsy nature, Nissan added woodgrain body wrap which serves as a neat contrast against the rugged theme of the vehicle. Meanwhile, the beadlock wheels are wrapped in all-terrain tires to ensure the van can cover almost any terrain.
Since it's meant for camping, the interior doesn't have traditional seats. Instead, Nissan installed a work table, a bench, and even a digital fireplace which provides a neat way for people to relax while inside the van. Similar to the exterior, the cabin is lined with wood panels.

Need to power your devices without having to use the engine? It has a deployable solar panel mounted on the roof that campers can use.

The Nissan Caravan Mountain Base Concept will officially be revealed at the 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon from January 14 to January 16. While we won't expect Nissan to make a production version of this, it could provide NV350 owners some inspiration in modifying their vans.
