Nissan adds more style to 2022 Leaf EV
Nissan reveals refreshed 2022 Leaf with new design, but same EV powertrain

The current-generation Nissan Leaf has been on the market for five years and will continue to play an important role in the automaker’s lineup for years to come. To keep the vehicle looking fresh against its competitors, Nissan has revealed the refreshed version of the EV for 2022, and it is now available in Europe.

Changes to the 2022 Leaf are limited to the vehicle’s exterior. That said, this is essentially the same vehicle that debuted in 2017 but with an updated design. The styling changes are quite subtle too, but they’re enough to give the EV a sharper look.

The bumpers and nearly all panels are carried over from the outgoing model. The only exception is the grille, which is now finished in gloss black. Nissan also fit a new set of 16- and 17-inch wheels. The updated brand logo appears on the front fascia, wheels, and rear end. A new set of colors complete the exterior makeover. Simple changes, but they’re enough to make the EV look more stylish and sportier compared to before.

Step inside, and it’s very much the same dashboard we’ve come to know. Instead of redesigning the cabin, Nissan upgraded the infotainment system. It now comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay out of the box together, and it can even link with Amazon Alexa for a more convenient drive.

As mentioned earlier, there are no changes to Leaf’s powertrain. Customers will be able to choose between two battery options – the standard 40 kWh or the larger 62 kWh on the Leaf e+. Nissan says the latter offers up to 385 kilometers of driving range via WLTP testing. Nissan’s signature ProPilot and e-Pedal technologies will also be retained.
The facelifted Nissan Leaf will go on sale in Europe later this year. Hopefully, it won’t take long before the model arrives in the Philippines.
