New Heights: Toyota Land Cruiser Prado gets Arctic Trucks treatment

The all-new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is already a capable 4x4 SUV from the dealership. However, Arctic Trucks reckons they can give the go-anywhere SUV the ability to cover any terrain, no matter the weather or road conditions.

This is the Land Cruiser Prado Prado AT37, and from its namesake, the SUV has been fitted with massive 37-inch tires and then some. Beginning with the most obvious first, the modified SUV gets BF Goodrich tires that are available in either all-terrain (A/T) or mud-terrain (M/T). The wheels are then shod into equally large 17-inch alloy wheels painted satin black and come with dual tire valves.

Besides giving it bigger and more capable tires, Arctic Trucks also upgraded the SUV with a lift kit thanks to a two-way adjustable suspension system. It gets new springs, coilovers, and dampers which will allow it to handle the rough stuff with ease. In addition, the new suspension gives the Land Cruiser Prado an extra 40mm (or 1.6 inches) of height.

Arctic Trucks also equipped the Land Cruiser Prado with a bespoke widebody kit that consists of ten pieces. It gets extended fender flares, new bumpers, aluminum side steps, mug guards, and a hidden receiver hitch. Arctic Trucks also went to the trouble of giving the SUV a wider track and a longer wheelbase by adjusting the position of the rear axle.

No engine modifications were mentioned by Arctic Trucks. That means the 2.4L turbo (or turbo-hybrid) gasoline engine most likely retains the factory output. In other markets, the new Land Cruiser Prado can be powered by a 2.8L turbo-diesel engine or with a 4.0L naturally-aspirated V6.

The new AT37 kit for the Land Cruiser Prado will be available in Q2 of this year in select markets like Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and North America. For owners of the SUV in the Philippines, perhaps they could get inspiration from what Arctic Trucks has done.
