New chief Tugade wants more efficient LTO, safer roads

At the turnover rights held at the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Central Office in Quezon City, new LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Jose Arturo ‘Jay Art’ M. Tugade had very clear and specific marching orders, use technology to better serve the motoring public, end corruption in the agency, and make the roads safer for motorists, pedestrians, and children.

During his speech, LTO chief Tugade urged all personnel from all offices across all regions and districts to ensure that each customer comes away with a great experience after every transaction they make with the agency. In line with this, he swore to put an end to corruption by using technology in the processing of various documents including motor vehicle registration and driver’s license applications, among others.

“Through the power of digitalization as envisioned by Assistant Secretary Guadiz, we believe that the days of corruption in this Agency are numbered. I shall continue to tread the path laid down by Assistant Secretary Guadiz for a fully digitalized, transparent, and corrupt-free LTO of the future,” said Tugade.

Tugade also echoed the priority of outgoing LTO chief Teofilo Guadiz III to intensify the campaign for road safety to meet the Philippine Road Safety Plan of zero deaths in road accidents.

“I would like the LTO to pursue this same path espoused by outgoing LTO chief Guadiz. We need roads that are safe not only for motorists but also for pedestrians and the general public, especially our children,” added Tugade.
