Multiverse: Does Ferrari Purosangue look like the Toyota Crown SUV?

It took nearly three-quarters of a century, but Ferrari has finally joined the super SUV market with the Purosangue. While the Prancing Horse outright refuses to call their latest stallion an SUV, its overall looks, dimensions, and design speak otherwise.

Despite serving as Ferrari's first-ever four-door four-seater SUV, we have to commend the Italian automaker for making the Purosangue (which is Italian for pure blood) look at home inside the Ferrari stable. With its sleek and muscular curves and long hood short deck design, the Purosangue is a looker from any angle.

But while Ferrari might have made the Purosangue stand out from the rest, we somehow noticed that it looks like a certain crossover from a Japanese automaker. That vehicle is actually the Toyota Crown Sport SUV, and its resemblance with the Ferrari is uncanny.

While there are some differences, the overall shape and profile of the two are eerily similar. The headlights and taillights designs also seem to look alike. The curves on its rear quarters also appear to have some resemblance. Last but not least, the bumpers, side skirts, and wheel arches of the two also have some similarities with one another.

So did Toyota and Ferrari copied each other's designs? While both automakers have yet to notice the similarities, our best guess is that the resemblance between the Crown Sport SUV and Purosangue is just a complete coincidence. As automakers continue to design crossovers and SUVs, it's normal for some designers to borrow inspiration from other brands.

This is not the first time a model from Toyota and Ferrari somehow looked like each other. Back in the 90s, Ferrari revealed the 355 while Toyota launched the second generation Toyota MR2. Despite being revealed years apart, may notice the design similarities between the MR2 and the 355. Some even called the second-gen MR2 the “poor man's Ferrari” due to its Prancing Horse-like appearance.
