MMDA suspends number coding on Chinese New Year

Looking to go around the metro to celebrate the Chinese New Year? The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has just announced that the Modified Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) will be suspended tomorrow.

Implementation of the modified number coding scheme from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM will be suspended on February 1, 2022. This means all vehicles with plate numbers ending in 3 and 4 can freely travel around Metro Manila (except Makati) without fear of violating the UVVRP.

In addition, the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases has also announced that from February 1 to February 15, 2022, Metro Manila, as well as 7 other provinces (Batanes, Bulacan, Cavite, Rizal, Biliran, Southern Leyte, and Basilan) will be under Alert Level 2.

Thanks to the eased restrictions, establishments will be allowed to operate at 50% to 70% capacity, depending on whether their operations are indoor or outdoor. In addition, bars, karaokes, clubs, concert halls, theaters, and other venues may open with up to 50% indoor capacity for fully-vaccinated individuals. Meanwhile, up to 70% in outdoor venue capacity will be allowed, regardless of vaccination status. As a reminder, all staff must be fully vaccinated.

With the number coding suspended tomorrow, along with Metro Manila reverting to Alert Level 2, expect more vehicles out on the road on February 1, 2022. Expect businesses to welcome more customers as well due to the relaxed restrictions.
