MMDA, LTO sign MOA for traffic violation, vehicle data sharing
MMDA, LTO interlink data systems for more efficient law enforcement

It may have taken quite a while, but the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) now have an interlinked database for quicker apprehension of erring motorists and vehicles.
MMDA Chairman Atty. Romando Artes and LTO Asec. Edgar Galvante signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the LTO-MMDA System Interconnectivity Project, which aims to swiftly identify drivers and vehicles involved in multiple violations and traffic incidents.
With this data sharing initiative, the MMDA gets real-time access to the LTO's Land Transportation Management System (LTMS) to determine and inform the names and addresses of vehicle owners caught in their non-contact apprehension system (NCAP).

On the other hand, the LTO gets the MMDA's database to log traffic apprehensions and vehicle alarms on the records of drivers and vehicles in their LTMS.
In addition, the new partnership allows the NCAP to give advance notifications to erring drivers via email or text for faster settlement of violations. This move cuts the waiting time for motorists to receive printed copies of the details of their apprehension.
“With this agreement, we can quickly pinpoint drivers committing multiple traffic violations resulting in the suspension of their licenses and their mandatory training on road safety and traffic rules. Drivers with violations will also be prevented from receiving the new ten-year licenses that are now being granted by the LTO,” said LTO Asec. Galvante.
Hopefully, together with LTO's Citisend app, this would serve as another step in the right direction towards instilling proper road discipline and motor vehicle management in our dear motorists.
