Mitsubishi says Mirage G4 can do 22.8 km/l, Strada 18.9 km/l
We're curious if we can replicate MMPC's fuel eco figures for the Mirage G4 and Strada pick-up

With fuel prices at an all-time high (and possibly even higher soon), getting the most out of every drop of gasoline or diesel is now one of the main concerns of motorists.

Recently, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) released the official fuel economy figures of two of its popular models in the country, the Mirage G4 and the Strada pick-up truck. Based on the tests the automaker conducted, both the sedan and pick-up are easy on the fuel bills.

Mitsubishi claims that the Mirage G4 with CVT can achieve 22.8 km/l while the Strada with a 6-speed automatic was able to average 18.9 km/l. Impressive figures, but do remember that Mitsubishi was able to achieve those fuel economy numbers under what we can only presume are ideal conditions on the highway.

Compared to the fuel economy tests we did on our reviews, MMPC's figures are not too far off from what we were able to achieve. When we drove the refreshed Mirage G4 GLS CVT late last year, we were able to average 20 km/l on the highway. As for the Strada, our best fuel economy was at 15.1 km/l with the GLS 4x4 M/T variant. Not bad, but the 6-speed automatic versions we drove before only achieved around 14.0 to 14.5 km/l at best.

With MMPC claiming the G4 and Strada can achieve nearly 23 km/l and 19 km/l, respectively, we're curious if we can actually replicate those under ideal circumstances. If ever we get to borrow one of their vehicles again, we'll let you know if both cars can actually achieve those figures.
