Mitsubishi resurrects the Grandis as hybrid SUV
Mitsubishi gets a helping hand from Renault in bringing back the Grandis

Back in 2022, Mitsubishi revealed the all-new ASX. But unlike previous generations where it was wholly designed (and manufactured) by the Japanese automaker, the latest ASX is now based on a Renault, more specifically the Captur. The badge-engineered crossover SUV is available with either a 1.0L or 1.3L turbocharged engine and a 1.6L engine that's available as a hybrid (HEV) or as a plug-in hybrid (PHEV).
Fast forward to 2025, and Mitsubishi will be bringing another nameplate back from the dead. This time, the automaker is proud to announce that the Grandis is making a comeback later this year. But instead of returning as a stylish MPV like its predecessor, the all-new Grandis will transform into a C-segment crossover SUV aimed at active young families in Europe.

For now, the automaker has revealed teaser photos of the yet-to-be-revealed vehicle. It will feature a distinct blacked-out grille that's accompanied by the Grandis name placed proudly on the tailgate.
According to Mitsubishi, the all-new Grandis was developed for Europe and will be available with mild-hybrid and hybrid electric powertrains. In addition, it will be equipped with intelligent driver aids (ADAS) and built-in Google connectivity in its infotainment system.

The Renault Symbioz from which the all-new Mitsubishi Grandis will be based
While it looks like the all-new Grandis is made entirely by Mitsubishi, that is not the case. Just like the latest ASX that came out a few years ago, the next-generation Grandis is based on a Renault, particularly the Symbioz. It's slightly bigger than the Captur as it measures 4410mm long, 1790mm wide, 1570mm tall, and has a 2638mm wheelbase.
The Symbioz is underpinned by the Renault-Nissan CMF-B HS platform which is shared with the Captur and Nissan Juke crossover SUVs. Like the upcoming Grandis, the Renault Symbioz will be available with either a mild-hybrid or HEV powertrain.

The all-new Mitsubishi Grandis will officially be revealed in July 2025 and will go on sale later this year in Europe.
