Mitsubishi PH lowers SRP of 2022 Xpander

Last month, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) officially started accepting pre-orders of the 2022 Xpander. With deliveries set to begin later this month or early May, interested customers who wish to get the updated MPV may now do so at authorized dealerships.

At the time Mitsubishi started accepting pre-orders, the 2022 Xpander had a starting price of PHP 1,030,000. However, just as Mitsubishi released the full specs of the refreshed MPV, the automaker lowered its SRP across all variants. You read that right, MMPC just made the Xpander more affordable.

Starting with the entry-level GLX M/T, it now retails for PHP 958,000 (PHP 72,000 less). Moving on to the mid-range GLX A/T, this particular variant now has a sticker price of PHP 1,018,000 (also PHP 72,000 less). Last but not least, the range-topping GLS A/T retails for PHP 1,078,000 (PHP 82,000 less).

At these prices, it looks like Mitsubishi wants to make it more competitively priced, particularly against its closest rival, the all-new Toyota Avanza. However, Toyota's latest MPV starts at PHP 813,000 and tops out at PHP 1,039,000. This makes the Avanza still have the upper hand when it comes to pricing.

Specs-wise, the 2022 Xpander now measures 4595mm long, 1750mm wide, and 1750mm tall. This makes the MPV 120mm longer, and 50mm taller than before. The width, however, remains the same as the pre-updated version.

Ground clearance, on the other hand, has been increased from 200mm to 225mm for better terrain management. All variants come with 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 205/55/R17 tires. The front axle gets ventilated disc brakes while the rear only comes with drum brakes.

Under the hood, the Xpander continues to be powered by a 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated inline-four with MIVEC. It makes 104.5 PS at 6000 rpm along with 141 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to the front wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission or a five-speed manual gearbox.

Available features and amenities in the 2022 Xpander include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, automatic climate control (in higher-grade variants), a 6-speaker sound system, rear center armrest with cupholders, anti-lock brakes, electronic brakeforce distribution, ISOFIX anchors for child seats, and dual airbags.
