Mitsubishi opens its first EV, PHEV charging station in PH

Back in 2020, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) announced that their next-generation showrooms in the country will soon have charging stations for EVs and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs). This is part of the brand's commitment to electrification, as well as lowering emissions in both vehicles and infrastructures.

Fast forward to 2022, and the first-ever Mitsubishi dealership with a charging station is now open. MMPC officially unveiled Mitsubishi Manila Bay as its flagship Dendo Drive Station in the country. It is an outlet where customers can learn and experience a variety of energy sources represented by an EV or PHEV and the value of their power-feeding functions in the event of a disaster.

Piloted under Peak Motors Philippines, Inc. (PMPI), this next-generation branch showcases and lets Filipinos discover first-hand the brand’s Vehicle-To-Home (V2H) energy ecosystem. Not only can it charge the Outlander PHEV, but it also supplies electricity back to the facility. On the daily, this lessens dependency on the grid to be able to run appliances. In addition, it can serve as a backup generator during blackouts.

The Dendo Drive Station at Mitsubishi Manila Bay was made possible through the automaker's partnership with Meralco. Through its subsidiaries, Spectrm, eSakay, and MServ, the components necessary for the Dendo Drive Station were brought to life. These include two charging pods, an IKS bi-directional charger, and a Delta DC Wallbox. The charging station can be found inside the showroom's vehicle receiving area.

Mitsubishi Motors has always been dedicated to continuously studying technologies and gaining expertise when it comes to vehicle electrification. The Dendo Drive Station is a manifestation of this, bringing a new kind of value in terms of eco-mobility,” said Takeshi Hara, president and CEO of MMPC.

As for Ferdinand O. Geluz, Meralco First Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, Mitsubishi's Dendo Drive Station is a testament to their shared commitment where consumers can generate, store, and share energy.

In the future, Mitsubishi plans to make more Dendo Drive Stations available in other dealerships. But for now, Mitsubishi Manila Bay is the starting point for the new charging station.
