MIAS 2022: GAC GS8 looks like a proper flagship SUV
GAC Motor Philippines previews the 2nd-generation GS8 SUV

GAC is looking to make an impact in the midsize SUV segment in the future.
Together with the EMPOW sports sedan, GAC Motor Philippines has also previewed the all-new GS8 SUV that could take on the likes some very popular PPVs and midsize crossovers in the market.

This second-generation model sits right in the middle of the GAC Motor Philippines booth in MIAS, and echoes an imposing presence with its size. But not only that, the GS8 also has bold styling which makes for an attractive SUV.
In front, the massive front grille is complemented by the vertical LED headlights covered by a chrome lid. One GAC executive revealed that those lids actually slide up, mimicking the opening of the human eye; a neat feature to say the least.

The sides and the back of the GS8 look much sleeker than before, with restyled LED taillamps and a redesigned rear bumper. The SUV's upscale design is finished off with a set of 20-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin tires.
Under the hood, the GS8 gets a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 251 PS and 400 Nm of torque. The engine is paired to an Aisin 8-speed automatic transmission with a BorgWarner all-wheel-drive system.

The vehicle at MIAS is tinted so dark that you can't see what's going on inside, and the reason is because GAC Philippines hasn't finalized how they will spec the GS8 yet. GAC Motor Philippines has yet to reveal more information about the all-new GS8, which means the interior look will change by the time it launches in 2023.
If you're in the market to purchase an SUV in the near future, then the all-new GAC GS8 is worth checking out. It is on display at the Manila International Auto Show from April 7 to April 10, 2022.
