MIAS 2017: Yes, the Honda Civic Type R is here but there's a catch
Honda brings Type R power to the country with the new Civic Type R.

The long wait may finally be over as Honda's much awaited hot hatchback has arrived in the Philippines.
The Civic Type R, for the first time in an official capacity, has joined the line up of Honda Cars Philippines at the 2017 Manila International Auto Show.

Based on the 10th generation Civic hatchback, Honda says the new model is the fastest and most agile Civic Type R to date. As was shown in Geneva, the Civic Type R retains the look of the prototype vehicle for the production model.
The front features an aggressive bumper and wider vented fenders. The side profile gives us a look at the 20-inch wheels with 245/30R20 Continental ContiSportContact 6 tires and the carbon fiber side skirts. At the back, a massive rear spoiler and a tri-pipe center mounted exhaust round up the Type R's exterior.

Powering it is a 2.0-liter turbocharged DOHC inline-four engine with i-VTEC and direct injection, which pushes out 320 PS and 400 Nm of torque. It will also be available with a six-speed manual only.

Underneath, it gets an all new dual-axis suspension along with aluminum lower arms and steering knuckles. Also present are new four-wheel adaptive suspension system,a tweaked electric power steering and a helical limited-slip front differential.

Hidden behind the 20-inch wheels are big four-pot Brembo brakes up front with 350mm cross-drilled rotors which help stop the car. Meanwhile, the rear makes do with just 305mm disc brakes.
While the Civic Type R is at the show, it is not for sale yet. Honda Cars Philippines is still evaluating whether to officially offer it.
