Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation extends aid to flood victims

In the wake of the recent typhoon and intensified Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) that have battered major parts of Luzon, MPT South and NLEX Corporation launched extensive relief operations to assist severely affected communities and motorists. Both companies, under the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) umbrella, are demonstrating their commitment to community support during this challenging period.

MPT South

MPT South’s efforts in southern Luzon, responsible for the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) and Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), swiftly coordinated with local government units (LGUs) in its alignment communities.

The company has distributed a total of 3,000 relief packs to families temporarily displaced by widespread flooding in areas across Metro Manila, Cavite, and Laguna. MPT South also announced plans to extend support to public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers and operators plying CAVITEX, whose livelihoods and mobility were disrupted by days of relentless rains.

Elnora Rumawak, Officer-in-Charge of MPT South, emphasized the company’s role beyond infrastructure. “We’re more than just a tollway operator. We are part of these communities—committed partners and neighbors who show up, especially in times of crisis,” she stated.

This relief initiative aligns with MPT South’s broader corporate social responsibility and disaster response goals.

NLEX Corporation

Meanwhile, NLEX Corporation has been distributing relief goods to LGUs and host communities severely affected by the Habagat across its network. The company donated 160 boxes of canned goods and 250 boxes of instant noodles to the Valenzuela LGU.

Separately, 50 sacks of rice were handed over to Mayor Isko Moreno for Manila residents in Tondo, Sampaloc, Sta. Cruz, and Sta. Mesa, with another 50 sacks of rice provided to the Quezon City local government.

Despite continuous rains and the onset of a new tropical depression, NLEX Corporation remains committed to ensuring affected stakeholders receive timely assistance. Beyond these major cities, aid has also reached the municipalities of Guiguinto and Marilao, among other affected areas.

NLEX also plans to extend relief to a total of eight LGUs and 79 host barangays across the NLEX, SCTEX, and NLEX Connector. Earlier this week, the NLEX team also distributed food and water to motorists stranded amidst heavy rain and massive flooding.

These comprehensive relief efforts from both MPT South and NLEX Corporation highlight the malasakit (compassion) deeply embedded in these companies’ culture, reflecting their enduring commitment to support the communities they serve, especially during difficult and uncertain times.
