Mercedes G63 Edition 55 marks AMG anniversary
Mercedes-AMG G63 'Edition 55' revealed for AMG's 55th anniversary

Over the years, only three letters are all you need to look for whenever you want a high-performance Mercedes-Benz. AMG.
First founded as a racing engine forge in 1967, the AMG name became known as a company that makes performance modifications to standard Mercedes-Benz models and often turned its capabilities to a whole new level.

Now known as Mercedes-AMG, the company is celebrating its 55th anniversary by producing a special-edition model of Mercedes-Benz's longest-serving SUV, the G-class. They call it the Mercedes-AMG G63 'Edition 55'.
Available in Obsidian Black Metallic or G Manufaktur Opalite White, the 'Edition 55' features a stylized AMG emblem on the lower portion of the G63's doors and rolls on 22-inch forged wheels with a cross-spoke design and a Matte Tantalum Grey finish.

There's a contrast of black and red accents on the G63's interior, with its seats finished in two-tone Nappa leather. You can find the “Edition 55” and “55 AMG” branding on the car's floor mats and steering wheel, while its door sills finished in stainless steel have the words “AMG” illuminated in red.
Under the hood is the same 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 found on the standard G63 that produces 577 PS and 850 Nm of torque. Its big power is then transmitted to a 9-speed automatic transmission.
The G63 'Edition 55' can now be ordered in Europe until October 2022. But according to Mercedes-AMG, this might not be the last special-edition anniversary model we'll see from the German manufacturer, as we can expect a few more 55th anniversary surprises in the coming months.
