Maserati says farewell to the V8 engine

Fans of Maserati will only have until 2024 to get their hands on V8-powered versions of their vehicles. Why is this happening you ask? Well, Maserati has already announced as early as last year that come 2030, they will only offer electric vehicles (EVs).

They’ve already revealed the Grecale Folgore and the GranTurismo Folgore which are both high-performance EVs. In the Philippines, Maserati is already offering electrified models in the form of the Ghibli Hybrid and Levante Hybrid.

So how will they say goodbye to the twin-turbo V8 engine? By giving them a special farewell. At the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed, Maserati will be unveiling the Ghibli 334 Ultima and Levante V8 Ultima as a proper send-off to the Ferrari-sourced V8.

The exact details about the Ultima editions of both vehicles are still a mystery. However, we can expect them to produce the same amount of power, if not more than the regular Trofeo versions of the Ghibli, Quattroporte, and Levante. First revealed in 2020, the twin-turbo V8-powered Trofeo variants crank out 580 PS and generate 730 Nm of torque.

In Italy, the automaker has already shown the Zeda editions of the Levante, Ghibli, and Quattroporte to celebrate the V8’s legacy before it's consigned to the history books. All three vehicles feature a unique blue-gray-white gradient livery derived from the GranTurismo Zeda which was first revealed back in 2019.

With Maserati set to fully embrace electrification, production of the V8-powered Trofeo models will officially cease in late 2023. The vehicles, however, will remain on sale into 2024 or until supplies last. With that, the last remaining Maserati V8s are set to become collector’s items for enthusiasts and customers alike.
