Maserati reveals first images of MC20 Cabrio prototype
This is your first look at the convertible version of the Maserati MC20

It was back in September of 2020 when we saw Maserati return to the supercar real with the MC20. Now serving as their flagship model, the MC20 is powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 that pushes out 630 PS and 730 Nm of torque.
The following year, it officially made its way to ASEAN during the 42nd Bangkok Motor Show. What's even better is that Maserati Philippines distributor Modena Motorsports Inc (MMI) has confirmed that the MC20 is coming to the country real soon. They have yet to say when it will be officially launched, but we're hoping it will not be a long wait.

For the longest time, however, the MC20 only came as a hardtop model. Luckily, Maserati has released the first official photos of the upcoming drop-top model. Officially called the MC20 Cabrio, the prototype vehicle features a unique camo livery that consists of clouds.
But unlike most convertibles that come with a fabric soft-top, Maserati appears to have used a folding metal roof for the MC20 Cabrio. Other key changes present on the MC20 Cabrio are the modified roofline and a new engine cover that replaces the see-through cover used in the hardtop. This was likely done in order to make use of a new stowing mechanism for the convertible top.

Under the hood, expect the familiar 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 to power the MC20 Cabrio. But since convertibles are relatively heavier than their hardtop counterparts, Maserati could make the V6 produce more power to offset the added weight. For reference, the stock V6 already makes an impressive 630 PS and 730 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to the wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Maserati has yet to say when they will actually launch the droptop MC20. But given they already have a working prototype, they could reveal the production model in Q2 of this year. Hopefully, by then, Maserati Philippines will be able to offer both the coupe and cabrio models to interested customers.
