Maserati PH finally launches MC20 supercar

After confirming the all-new flagship supercar for the Philippine market last year, Modena Motorsports Inc (MMI) has officially launched the Maserati MC20.

Powered by a twin-turbo V6, the MC20 (short for Maserati Corse 2020) highlights Maserati’s return to the supercar realm after a long hiatus. With a focus on aerodynamics, performance engineering, and lightweight construction, the MC20 comes with all of the best features Maserati has devised.

Its sleek shape is made from carbon fiber which ensures the body has high rigidity and lightness. Meanwhile, the prominent snout upfront features the brand’s signature trident badge that is complemented by a sleek pair of LED headlights. There are also a wide array of air ducts that, along with the car’s aerodynamics, engine, and brake cooling, provide downforce to the rear spoiler. Last but not least, the MC20 gets the visually-striking butterfly door that befits its supercar status.

Step inside and the MC20 greets occupants with a driver-centric cockpit. There’s a flat-bottom steering wheel, sport bucket seats, heaps of leather and Alcantara upholstery, a fully-digital instrument panel, and a touchscreen infotainment system. Serving as a reminder to would-be customers they are in something special are the carbon fiber trim pieces throughout the cabin.

Other features present in the all-new MC20 include a drive-mode selector on the center tunnel, a wireless phone charger, an MC20 badge on the passenger-side dashboard, steering wheel audio controls, and contrast stitching on the seats and upholstery.

At the heart of the all-new MC20 is a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 dubbed Nettuno which is Italian for the Roman God Of The Seas. The six-cylinder engine makes an impressive 630 PS at 7500 rpm along with 730 Nm of torque that’s available between 3000 to 5500 rpm. The engine is then coupled to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission.

With a curb weight of sub-1500 kilograms, Maserati claims the MC20 can sprint from 0 - 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and continue on to complete a 200 km/h dash in 8.8 seconds. Top speed, on the other hand, is rated at 325 km/h.

Pricing for the Maserati MC20 was not revealed by the automaker. So if you’re actually serious about buying one, do let Maserati know your plan as each one is an indent order.
