Manila is now Single Ticketing System-ready

The City of Manila was one of the first cities in NCR to implement the No-Contact Apprehension Program (NCAP) not too long ago, which was met with both praise and criticism from motorists.

Then, about a year ago, the Supreme Court issued a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) on NCAP, which effectively stopped the implementation of the contactless system.

The NCAP was a great but it is not without its flaws, especially when LGUs have different policies when it comes to traffic management and apprehension. This is where where the unified traffic management policy across Metro Manila comes in. Welcome the Single Ticketing System (STS).

After an initial dry run and testing of MMDA, the City of Manila received its first 30 units of the handheld device for the new system, making the Nation’s Capital STS-ready.

The handheld devices were received by the City Mayor herself, Honey Lacuna-Pangan from MMDA Acting Chairman Atty. Don Artes. Additionally, the City of Manila also received 5 computer sets, a server, an uninterruptible power supply, SIM cards, as well as other accessories for the continuous implementation of STS in the city.
