Mahindra's Global Pik Up Concept targets lifestyle truck market
Will have Mahindra's next-gen diesel engine, Level-2 autonomous features, among others

If you are a pickup aficionado who wants a truck body with the SUV ride and amenities – the lifestyle kind of a pickup truck – Mahindra is putting something together for you.
Well, it is actually in full form already, albeit as a prototype, but the Indian automaker says it will be production-ready by 2025. Here is the Global Pik Up Concept (yes, it is intentionally spelled like that).

Mahindra took the New Gen Ladder Frame used by the Scorpio N midsize SUV so it can match the capabilities of direct competitors like the Hilux and the Ranger but with the addition of creature comforts like a semi-automatic parking feature, a sunroof, 5G connectivity, and even Level 2 Advanced Driver Assist Systems.
Off-roaders, do not worry. It will be as equipped for overlanding as it is in the city with Mahindra's intelligent 4Xplore four-wheel-drive layout, terrain-based drive mode selection, trailer sway mitigation, and more.
Under the hood is a Gen II mHawk all-aluminum diesel engine. Mahindra has not revealed the output, but it's available with a six-speed manual gearbox or an automatic transmission.
Cabin amenities were not detailed, but as a lifestyle-oriented truck, expect at least SUV-level equipment. Mahinda executives hinted that passengers will experience “luxurious touches,” a “spacious layout,” and “immersive infotainment.”

“The new Global Pik Up marks a significant step in Mahindra's Go-Global Strategy. This robust and tough vehicle, engineered with cutting-edge technology, is not only versatile and capable but also meets high standards of safety. Our move with the Global Pik Up is poised to not only reinforce our presence in existing markets but also pave the way to new frontiers,” said Veejay Nakra, President – Automotive Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.
Do not hold your breath for a Philippine debut yet. Mahindra plans to offer the production version of the Global Pik Up Concept in South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and the Middle East. Hopefully, the ASEAN region soon after.
