LTO working on DL backlogs; reports offices with faulty printers
LTO says license backlogs have been reduced from 300,000 to 92,000

It was not so long ago when the Land Transportation Office (LTO) resolved the issue of the backlog of driver's license cards, but apparently, they are struggling to get on top of things again.
According to the agency, they faced a backlog of 300,000 cards back in August 2022, as some LTO offices around the country have defective laser engraving machines. With that said, LTO Chief Jay Art Tugade says they have already reduced the number of backlogs to around 92,000 as of November this year.
However, with regard to the defective laser engraving machines, the LTO Chief reports that for now, the agency is resorting to simple repairs as a lack of funds is preventing them from buying new ones.
To avoid further inconveniences for applicants and those renewing their licenses, LTO has released the list of offices with non-working or defective laser engraving machines:

“This significant reduction in backlogs is a testament to the LTO’s firm resolve to settle this problem using digital technology and, in the process, remove corruption and red tape. We are happy to report this development, but we will not stop because the ultimate objective is to reach zero backlog level” said LTO Chief Tugade.
With the LTO facing funding and equipment issues to address driver's license backlogs, we hope they get on top of these problems. After all, no one in their right mind would want to pay PHP 400+ for a paper license.
