New LTO Central Command Center to address road crime, accidents

It took a while, but now the Land Transportation Office has just established a new program to finally help make reporting issues, accidents, and even crimes on the road quicker and easier.

The LTO, together with parent agency Department of Transportation, has inaugurated the new Central Command Center (C3) at their East Avenue, Quezon City main office. The facility will serve as the central hub for citizens and motorists to report any issues they are involved in or witness on the road so that the LTO can take immediate action or coordinate with other partner agencies.

LTO Assistant Secretary Edgar Galvante emphasized the importance of the LTO's C3, calling it “one of the flagship programs that the LTO has dared to pursue and was built to empower each and every road user.”

The reporting will be via the new app of the LTO called CitiSend. Once downloaded, a person can report a traffic accident or other road-related issues directly to the LTO. During the inauguration earlier today, DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade explained that the new facility and the app can really make a big difference with the safety and security of the public.

“There is no substitute to safety. Itong instrumento na ito ay isang magandang system kung saan makakatulong ito sa pagganap at pagbago ng safety sa ating mga kalsada,” Secretary Tugade added.

Perhaps one of the most interesting bits about the new C3 is that it will also be the LTO's joint operation center with the Philippine National Police (PNP) for road-related crimes. When a crime is reported (e.g. carnapping, riding in tandem) the PNP is right there to coordinate a response.

“This program will ensure—sa araw-araw, mababawasan ang road crashes, araw-araw mare-resolba ang mga krimen na may kinalaman sa ating motor vehicles,” said Mark Steven Pastor, DOTr Undersecretary for Road Transport and Infrastructure.
