LTO offers free theoretical driving course for student drivers
LTO-NCR West announces free sessions for theoretical driving course

Needless to say, driver education (and possibly re-education) is something that we think is extremely important in the Philippines. You only need to spend a few hours on the road to see why that is.
Driving schools, however, can be pricey for aspiring drivers. Thankfully the Land Transportation Office wants to make a positive contribution to help lessen that.
The Land Transportation Office National Capital Region West (LTO-NCR West) Driver’s Education Center (DEC) is offering the 15-hour Theoretical Driving Course or TDC. Attending the course is a requirement for those applying for a Student Permit, and teaches attendees basic road rules, signs, markings, maneuvers, courtesy, right of way, and other key pieces of information necessary for safe and responsible driving.
This free Theoretical Driving Course being offered by LTO-NCR West is very important because driving schools generally charge significant fees for this service. Typically, driving schools charge PHP 2300 for this course.
Students will have to dedicate a two-day session with the LTO-NCR West on January 10-11, 12-13, 17-18, 19-20, 24-25, and 26-27. All sessions are to be held at the LTO-NCR West Regional Office along Araneta Avenue in Quezon City.
The problem, however, is that less than a day after LTO-NCR West made the announcement, all the slots have been filled up. That’s not surprising given the cost of such a course from private driving schools.
If you missed it, however, LTO-NCR West will be holding another set of free TDC classes in February. There’s no announcement yet on the dates and when they will open applications, but we’ll keep you updated when they do.
