LTO deploys 41 enforcers during FIBA World Cup
Patrol vehicles, motorcycle units will assist in handling traffic to and from World Cup venues

Even if you are not a basketball fan, it is hard to miss the upcoming FIBA World Cup. It is all hands on deck for various government agencies, from the Philippine National Police (PNP), Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), and even the Land Transportation Office (LTO).
To add manpower to ensure flowing vehicular traffic during the 17-day staging of the World Cup at Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, the Mall of Asia in Pasay City, and the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan, LTO chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II announced that the agency will be deploying personnel to assist in road security and traffic management.
“Kilala ang Pilipinas sa pagmamahal sa larong basketball kaya inaasahan natin ang dagsa ng ating mga kababayan sa mga lugar na pagdadausan ng FIBA World Cup. At titiyakin natin na ang LTO ay magiging kaagapay sa pagtitiyak na magiging maayos ang pagho-host ng ating bansa (Filipinos are known to love basketball and so we expect our fellowmen to watch the games in these venues. The LTO will assist to ensure a smooth hosting of the event),” said Mendoza.
As per LTO Law Enforcement Service Director Francis Almora, patrol vehicles, motorcycle units, and 41 law enforcers are assigned on the route leading to the three venues of the FIBA World Cup.
“The instruction of Assistant Secretary Mendoza is for us to be in full force in assisting other government agencies for the event. So, the LTO will be there to do its job in coordination with other law enforcement agencies,” said Almora.
It is almost guaranteed that traffic to any of the arenas will be heavy, but rest easy on the fact that involved government agencies are doing their best to ensure you get to your seat before the jump ball.
