LTO chief Tugade goes after overloaded vehicles
22 motor vehicles flagged down in first anti-overloading campaign by LTO chief Tugade

In his first order of business as the newly-minted Land Transportation Office (LTO) chief, Jay Art Tugade orders all district and regional offices to intensify the agency’s campaign against overloaded vehicles.
LTO agents from the Central Office and Region 3 manned the Tabang Weighbridge Station in Tabang, Guiguinto, Bulacan, and conducted an anti-overloading operation. Leading the group were Regional Director Ed de Guzman and Assistant Regional Director Danny Martinez. Seven members of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) under Bulacan District Engineer Henry Alcantara were also present.

The operation flagged down a total of 22 motor vehicles, 15 of which were apprehended for violating Republic Act 8794 or the Anti-Overloading Act of 2000. Three other vehicles were penalized for breaking provisions of the Land Transportation and Traffic Code.
“We will continue to build upon our objective of ridding our roads of overloaded trucks because they present direct danger against other vehicles plying our roads. Definitely, our operations against overloaded vehicles will continue without letup so that those violators will learn to respect our laws on road safety,” said LTO Chief Tugade.
