LOOK: Great Wall mashes up Ford Bronco, Jeep Renegade
GWM's high-end SUV brand Tank has released latest variant of their 300 series

Great Wall Motors’ high-end off-road vehicle brand Tank likes to copy. They released the Tank 500 last year and it was eerily similar to Toyota’s Land Cruiser (and Nissan Patrol). This year, they look towards the west for inspiration. Say hello to the Tank 300.

Borrowing style cues from the Ford Bronco and Jeep Renegade, the Tank brand has unveiled the newest edition of their Tank 300 line, the Frontier Edition. Mimicking the Loki TV show, the variants start with the base City Edition, then move on to the Off-Road, the Ranger, the Wind Forest Iron Cavalry, and lastly the Cybertank. Each variant, of course, is an improvement over the previous with the engine still remaining the same.

All forms of the body-on-frame SUV share the same 2.0 direct-injection turbo engine with 227 horsepower and 387 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. This 4-wheel SUV drive comes with 3 drive modes, 2H, 4H and 4L. The latest iteration has an impressive 2,500-kilo trailer pull.

With a very luxurious interior, the tech inside the SUV seems to also be mimicking features from other brands. Aside from the typical 360-degree camera, Subaru's EyeSight tech and Mercedes’ MBUX digital panels have also been replicated for the Tank 300 Frontier Edition.

It also has all the trimmings of a valid safari-ready trail vehicle. These include a raised suspension, a more aggressive grille, a massive hood, snorkel, cut-out wheel arches, air vents, bespoke bumpers, a bull bar, and a power winch that gives the mini SUV overland clout.

Sadly, the Tank brand is only for sale in China. This would have looked good on our various off-road trails in and out of the metro. Selling for 270,000 Yuan or PHP 2.2M, this would still be a lot cheaper than the two models it 'borrowed' inspiration from.
