Look: Gas prices now averaging PHP 80 and above

To say that this week's fuel price adjustments were bittersweet is an understatement. For diesel motorists, it was a relief to see prices roll back PHP 2.30 per liter. Meanwhile, gasoline car owners had to bite the bullet as prices rose PHP 3.95 per liter. With that, getting diesel at the pumps is now cheaper once more.

But just how affordable (or expensive) are fuel prices these days in the metro? We checked out some gas stations in Quezon City to see for ourselves how much will you have to cough up in order to refuel your car.

Starting with this Seaoil gas station along EDSA, diesel now only costs PHP 74.65 a liter. On the other hand, the most affordable gasoline costs PHP 80.20 while the most expensive is priced at PHP 81.15 per liter.

Moving to a Shell gas station along Timog Avenue, the cheapest diesel is selling for PHP 75.15 while the priciest retails for PHP 80.16. If you're looking to gas up on regular 91 octane at this Shell station, you'll have to shell out PHP 80.70 per liter. Opt for the more expensive V-Power gasoline, and you'll have to pay up PHP 84.10 or PHP 87.20.

At a nearby Phoenix station along Timog Avenue, their diesel now only costs PHP 73.40 per liter. Meanwhile, their most affordable gasoline is only selling for PHP 79.70 a liter which is a surprise. But if you prefer to have 95 octane in your tank, it will cost you PHP 80.45 per liter.

Last but not least is this Petron station located near the Boy Scout Circle and Monument. Their cheapest diesel costs PHP 74.65 while their most expensive diesel is selling for PHP 76.65. Over to gasoline, their most affordable fuel is priced at PHP 80.20. If you prefer XCS over Xtra Advance, it will cost you PHP 80.95 to fill up. Strangely, there were no prices available for their most premium gasoline; Blaze 100.

The price of fuel is still at an all-time high. But for those who have a diesel-powered vehicle, the latest rollback is still a welcome one. As for gasoline motorists, all they can do for now is grin and bear it amid the high gasoline prices.
