Like GR86, Subaru upgrades BRZ for 2025 model year
The Toyobaru twins have been given a modest update for the 2025 model year

A few days ago, we reported about Toyota giving the GR86 several upgrades for the 2025 model year. Not only does it get a tweaked suspension, but Toyota also gave the GR 86 a modified engine torque & throttle mapping for better performance while on the limit. Heck, the brand even launched a special edition called the RZ “Ridge Green Limited” that comes with a unique green hue, 18-inch bronze wheels, Sachs dampers, and Brembo ventilated disc brakes.
Not to be outdone by its partner, Subaru has also revealed the 2025 BRZ which gets some modest upgrades of its own.

Like its Toyota twin, the 2025 BRZ comes with a revised suspension consisting of optimized damper settings and a tweaked electronic power steering assist. Subaru claims this will give the sports coupe sharper handling while also improving ride comfort. The upgraded suspension is only available on certain variants as the STI Sport version retains the STI-tuned dampers.
Next is the addition of a Sport Mode exclusive to the manual versions of the 2025 BRZ. It improves throttle response and increases the volume of the Active Sound Control system in the cabin for a more exhilarating driving experience. The automatic transmission, meanwhile, has been tuned to allow drivers to make manual downshifts at higher RPMs.

Under the hood, all remains the same with the 2.4-liter naturally-aspirated Boxer engine. It continues to make 235 PS with 250 Nm of torque and is paired with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. Style-wise, the exterior of the 2025 BRZ remains relatively the same apart from the new LED daytime running lights (DRLs).
The 2025 Subaru BRZ is already available in Japan, so it might arrive in the Philippines either later this year just before Christmas, or around Q1 or Q2 of 2025.

Of the updated Toyobaru twins, which of the two would you pick? Let us know in the comments.
