Lego Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 can be yours for PHP 3,299
Lego releases new Mustang Shelby GT500 Technic kit that can do launches

The current-generation Mustang Shelby GT500 is one of the most powerful cars the Ford builds today. It's the top-of-the-line variant of the Mustang range packing an aggressive aero body kit and 760 horsepower from a supercharged V8 engine. However, it's also the most expensive – retailing for PHP 7,760,000 in the Philippines.

But now, there's a more affordable way to own a Shelby GT500. There is a catch, though. You can't exactly drive it around, and it does need assembly when you get your hands on it. That's because it comes in the form of a Lego Technik kit.
Lego recently released the new Shelby GT500 Technik kit, and it's now available locally. It's not the more expensive and more complicated Technic kit like the Lamborghini Sian, Land Rover Defender, or the Bugatti Chiron. This one only has 544 pieces in total, making it relatively easier to assemble. It's also relatively small, measuring only 27cm long, 12cm wide, and 8cm tall.

Unfortunately, the Lego Shelby GT500 isn't as powerful as the road car. But you can do some launches as it comes with two pull-back motors. The toy company says it even has an augmented reality function via the Lego Technic app, placing the car on a virtual test track.

According to Lego, the scale model Shelby GT500 is ideal for kids aged nine and up. However, we wouldn't be surprised if owners of the real-life model would pick one up to add to their collection. The design of the kit does very much resemble the original – from the taillights to the vented hood and even the aggressive-looking front end.
If you're interested, the local Lego retailer already has the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Technic in stock. It does retail for a bit more compared to the US Lego store at PHP 3,299.
