LEAKED: 2023 Honda City rocking a new face

Earlier this month, pictures of what appeared to be the 2023 Honda City facelift were shared on the web. Despite having a camouflage livery, it was quite apparent that the B-segment sedan will be getting a refresh. Since the fifth generation City was first revealed over 3 years ago, the vehicle is ripe for a minor model change (MMC).

Fast forward a couple of weeks later, and we now have our best look at the refreshed Honda City. This comes after several leaked pictures of the supposed sedan have made their way to the internet. Based on the pictures provided, the sedan will get a minor facelift rather than an extensive redesign.

Beginning with its face, high-grade variants will come with a new honeycomb-style grille that is paired with an updated chrome centerpiece that connects the headlights. Speaking of headlights, Honda also put restyled LED units that feature a more aggressive look. Lower-grade models will not get LED headlights and will instead continue to get projector halogens.

The front bumper was also given attention and appears to have received mild tweaks, particularly with the lower intake and the foglight bezels. As far as the wheels are concerned, we can expect the sedan to also come with a new set of alloys for both the top-spec and mid-grade models. Meanwhile, the entry-level variant will come with steelies with hubcaps.

Around the back, the changes are far more subtle as the taillights and trunk lid appear to have been carried over. What’s new, however, is the slightly revised rear bumper. Unlike the current City which comes with vertical reflectors on the side, the one on the facelift gets horizontal units that are tucked underneath the bumper itself. In addition, the 2023 City will now come with parking sensors which will complement the reverse camera system.

Over to the interior, it’s hard to spot what changes Honda made to the 2023 City. Based on the lone image of the cabin, it seems the only addition they made is a faux wood trim on the dashboard and a revised set of buttons for the steering wheel. What we can expect, however, is that the sedan could now be available with Honda Sensing or be fitted with more amenities to make it more attractive to customers.

In terms of engines, the 2023 Honda City will most likely still be available with the 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbo exclusive for Thailand, as well as the naturally-aspirated 1.5-liter i-VTEC inline-four found in the Philippine-spec units. There’s also the City e:HEV hybrid which comes with a pair of electric motors that puts out a total system output of 109 PS and 253 Nm of torque.

With the 2023 Honda City expected to be revealed in India and at this year’s Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS) in Thailand next month, we might not have to wait much longer for the sedan’s reveal. Here’s to hoping we get more leaked information regarding the refreshed B-segment sedan before its launch.
