Launched: 2025 BYD Shark 6 is the first PHEV pickup in PH
Shark 6 is BYD's take on a plug-in hybrid pickup that can go the distance and go anywhere it pleases

The pickup truck market in the Philippines is about to be disrupted. After several sightings and a lengthy teaser, BYD Cars Philippines distributor ACMobility has officially revealed the 2025 Shark 6 DMO PHEV pickup truck.
Powered by the brand's innovative plug-in hybrid system, the Shark 6 serves as the brand's first-ever electrified pickup truck. The Shark 6 is also out to prove that workhorses can go the distance and cover almost any terrain with its DMO powertrain. The Super DMO system is a variation of the brand's DM-i system and is geared towards off-road use.

At the heart of the Shark 6 is a 1.5L turbocharged gasoline engine that makes 184 PS with 260 Nm of torque. The engine is then assisted by a 29.58 kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery and two electric motors that provide a total system output of 435 PS and 650 Nm of torque. From a standstill, BYD says the Shark 6 can sprint from 0 – 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds.

With a fully charged battery and tank, BYD claims the Shark 6 can cover a total distance of 800 km. On battery power alone, the automaker says the pickup truck can cover up to 100 km without using a drop of fuel. For extra peace of mind when going off-road, the Shark 6 comes with a multi-terrain mode system which consists of Mud, Sand, and Snow. As for drive modes, the Shark 6 gets Eco, Normal, and Sport.

Need to power up a campsite or several devices during a blackout? The Shark 6 comes with a vehicle-to-load (V2L) system. The rear bed is equipped with several outlets that are each rated at 6kW/230V and can supply power to appliances such as a mini fridge, a coffee maker, an induction cooker, a sound system, and many more.

In case you need more power outlets to charge your devices, the rear center console also comes with a 230V outlet along with USB Type A and USB Type C charging ports. When it comes to recharging the BYD Shark 6, the pickup comes with both a 7kW AC and 55 kW DC charging ports. The former can recharge the Shark 6 to full in around 5 hours from 15% while the latter can recharge the pickup truck from 30% to 80% in around 20 minutes.

Size-wise, the Shark 6 measures 5457mm long, 1971mm wide, and 1925mm tall. It also has a generous 3260mm wheelbase, 230mm of ground clearance, 700mm water-wading depth, an approach angle of 31 degrees, a ramp over of 17 degrees, and a departure angle of 19 degrees. The pickup also has a braked towing capacity of 2,500 kg, a payload capacity of up to 840 kg, and a cargo volume of 1,450 liters on its bed. The bed itself measures 1520mm long, 1500mm wide, and 517mm tall.

Unlike most pickup trucks, the BYD Shark 6 comes with both a front and rear double wishbone suspension system for better riding comfort. Combined with its top-notch Noise, Vibration, and Harshness deadening, BYD says the Shark 6 is more comfortable and refined than its closest rivals.

Hop inside and the Shark 6 welcomes you into a high-tech and ergonomic cabin. Sitting proudly on the center dashboard is the brand's signature 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system. It supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and comes with various apps to keep occupants entertained and safe. It also has a 360-degree camera system with see-through mode for off-road, full leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, a heads-up display, dual-zone climate control, a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel, and an 8-speaker sound system.

For extra peace of mind while on the road, the Shark 6 is equipped with the brand's DiPilot intelligent driver aids. This gives the pickup truck additional safety features like forward collision warning (FCW), automatic emergency braking (AEB), blind-spot detection (BSD), lane departure warning (LDW), adaptive cruise control (ACC), rear-cross traffic alert (RCTA), and automatic high beams (AHB). Available colors for the 2025 BYD Shark 6 include Aurora White, Cosmos Black, and Deep Sea Blue.

Pricing of the BYD Shark 6 is as follows:
Shark 6 DMO Advanced - PHP 2.098M
Shark 6 DMO Premium - PHP 2.298M
