Kia PH recalls select Carnival units due to sliding door issue

Owners of the all-new Kia Carnival may want to visit their nearest dealership soon.

A few days ago, Kia Australia issued a recall affecting over 10,000 Carnivals in its market. This is due to a problem with power sliding side doors. According to the automaker, the sliding doors may not warn occupants while it’s operating - increasing the risk of an injury happening.

A total of 10,046 examples of the 2020 - 2023 Carnival are currently being recalled by Kia in The Land Down Under. With the Australian market affected by the power-sliding door issue, we asked our contacts at Kia Philippines if local units are also part of the recall.

In a statement, the company announced that the Kia Philippines dealer network will contact affected Carnival owners regarding the minor problem in their power sliding doors. Like the issue in Australia, the automaker shared that the said doors may not warn passengers while in operation which could pose a risk to occupants who are unaware the door system is moving.

Customers are advised to bring their units to the nearest Kia dealership for a free fix or logic upgrade. The procedure will only take around 30 to 45 minutes using a diagnostic system tool in order to rectify the problem.
